Hillview Cottage

Marylin Lightfield has always loved flowers. That’s why her husband, Tom, built her a greenhouse at their Hillview Cottage when they moved there twenty years ago. This is where Marylin cultivates the most glorious flowers and is always successful in getting flowers to bloom outdoors whatever the season. Bridbury's residents have great respect for this.

Jeanet Evans from the hat shop always has a fresh bouquet of flowers from Marylin in the shop and photographer, Francis Harrow, always prefers to sit people modelling for portraits next to a bunch of red roses personally delivered by Tom every three days. Jaimy Barnet from the bookshop is a loyal customer, who buys flowers every Friday for his wife, Lucy. Ann Biggin from the "fire department” believes that fire victims should be given flowers to alleviate the shock. She buys these from Marylin and brings them to the victims in person. But most of all Marylin, Tom and their three children, Sophie, Cherry and Tom Jr. love seeing the roses flowering in their own garden. Then they think Hillview Cottage is the prettiest house in Bridbury.
