When the skiers have been skiing down the slopes of the Humpferdell the whole morning, they are in need of something tasty. They can buy this at "Bernhards Backstube" . Of course Bernhard and Maria Blumberg make the regular dark "Bauernbrot", the delicious "Kornspitz", the "Laugenbretzel" and the "Kaiserbrötchen", but these are really meant for the local inhabitants.
Johann and Hildegard Friedrich from the clock makers shop, with their four growing children, eat as many as three loaves of bread a day! But especially for the tourists, the baker, Bernhard, also dabbles in the finer art of baking, he makes delicious cakes, which are easily sold per piece. His collection includes "Apfelkuchen", "Sachertorte", "Linzer Torte" and "Malakofftorte". Skiers love them. Bernhard's Backstube is also the main supplier to the hotel of Annemarie Britz, not only because of his cakes, but also his excellent fruit. Bernhard’s raspberries in particular are of a very high quality.
He buys these from farmer Anton Neuendorf, who has a small raspberry field behind his "Bauernhof". Both the hotel and café/restaurant "Stab Aldo" run by Aldo Ramsbeck use these to make the "Heisse Liebe", vanilla ice cream with warm raspberries and thick sauce, for which the region is so famous. Bernhard and Maria have two pretty daughters, Berthe who is twelve and Helena who is fourteen, the most difficult age for girls. So they also have a lot to discuss with the two mischief makers, who are only too interested in the fast skiers with their dark glasses.
