In the past, when Schneewald was still undiscovered by both summer and winter tourists, the Lümberg family had, for centuries, farmed almost 1600 metres up in the mountains. The farm was passed on from father to son. But son Thomas and his wife Grätchen were quick to realise that much more money was to be made from tourists than from cows. Just at the point where walkers on their way to the top look forward to an hours rest and a snack and where skiers want to relieve their knees for a while after skiing halfway down the slope, the Lindenhütte provides everything for everyone.
The ski instructors from Nena Fahnster's "Skischule" all know their way to the Lindenhütte and are welcome guests. And yet cooking is not Grätchen's favourite hobby which is why she lets Annemarie Britz from the hotel in the village prepare most of the meals, so all she has to do is warm them up. Experience has taught her that hungry tourists are not always very choosy. And keeping the four rooms she provides clean keeps her busy enough. These are always taken. And if one should be vacant she informs Carmen Wöltendorf at the information centre in the Rathaus. She always has a candidate. After all, who wouldn't want to spend the night in the middle of the piste and race down the mountainside straight from the breakfast table? Or what about bird spotting from your bedroom?
